Summer Icon Pop Art Printmaking

4th graders learned about Andy Warhol today - that he was the "father" of Pop Art (art based on popular culture).  He created art out of icons from popular culture, including famous people, commercials and popular products.  Most of his work was "printmaking" - a type of art based on making "stamps" that can be printed over and over again using different colored inks.

Students created their own icon of summer and drew it into a "plate" (foam rectangle).  They then painted a colored ink over and placed a colored paper on top to make their "print" of their "plate" (basically like stamping!).
