Mondrian's Primary Colors + Vertical and Horizontal Lines

The famous artist Piet Mondrian used only vertical and horizontal lines + the primary colors (red, yellow, blue) to create his artworks.  1st graders learned a lot in just one class!  They first learned the different between vertical and horizontal lines and used rulers to draw them with a black marker.  Then students learned the three primary colors (red, yellow, blue) and why they are the most important colors (when mixed, they create other colors). Students then looked at the artwork of Piet Mondrian and created their own art inspired by the famous artist.
