3rd graders learned about abstract art - that it is non-representational and often looks "crazy". This is sometimes a difficult concept for students to understand, so we first started our project by drawing and painting our name in a fun, artistic way. Students then took their mixed media art (drawing + painting combined) and cut it up into small squares. 3rd graders then created new, abstract art by gluing their their colored squares onto paper in a beautiful way!
